Dr Franklin obtained his medical degree in 1992 from the University of Queensland, training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital before being admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2000.
He began private practice at the John Flynn Private Hospital in 2001, initially dividing his time with part-time training in Stress Echocardiography at the Princess Alexandra Hospital under the guidance of Professor Thomas Marwick, a world-renowned leader in the field of echocardiography.
He has served in clinical advisory positions at the John Flynn Private Hospital, as Chair of the Cardiac Services Department, and as Chair of the Medical Advisory and Credentialing Committees. He is active in teaching Bond University medical students and hosts a monthly clinical case-discussion forum for cardiology trainees and consultants.
